England Fly-halves

Wilkinson.OK got his name out the way, I can't say any more about him until he plays rugby again, which I hope will be soon and lasting.

Hodgson is a great player, he can really damage a team and his option taking in all conditions is good. However, and there had to be one, he requires quick ball. With quick ball he makes the good calls, without it he starts to struggle. Redpath always gave lightning ball, and we saw him for the Lions receiving bullets from Cusiter. I think Sales back line faltered a little last season as Martens does not have the service Hodgson thrives on.

Goode is actually a very good player, he does have good skills and attacking flair. However, and there had to be one ;-), he needs to play on the front foot. If he gets the ball from a pack going forward and a defence going backwards he is quite dangerous, and I know you might say that about any player but I think Goode does stand out in those circumstances. Sadly, for me at least, the Tigers pack are not as dominant as in times past so he becomes less of a threat.

With three good fly-halves coming through, Lamb, Flood, Cipriani, and with Wilkinson expected to play a part this year. Add in the possible choice of Barkley as 10/12 cover in any squad, I doubt if Goode will be capped again, but I wouldn't rule him out completely just yet.
